-
Update WhatsApp:
- Make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your smartphone. You can update the app from your device's app store (Google Play Store for Android and App Store for iOS).
-
Connect to the Internet:
- Ensure that your smartphone is connected to the internet via a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection. Voice calling on WhatsApp works over the internet, so a stable connection is essential.
-
Open WhatsApp:
- Launch the WhatsApp application on your smartphone.
-
Access the Contact:
- Go to the chat or contact with whom you want to make a voice call.
-
Initiate the Call:
- Once you're in the chat with your contact, you'll see various icons at the top of the screen, including a phone icon. Tap the phone icon to initiate a voice call.
-
Wait for the Call to Connect:
- WhatsApp will attempt to connect the call. The recipient will receive a call notification, and once they answer, you can start your conversation.
-
Using WhatsApp Web (Optional):
- If you use WhatsApp Web on your computer, you can also make voice calls from there. When you're chatting with a contact on WhatsApp Web, you'll see a phone icon in the top bar. Click it to make a voice call. Note that your smartphone must be connected to the internet for this to work.
-
Use WhatsApp Outgoing Calls (Android Only):
- In some regions, WhatsApp offers a feature called "WhatsApp Outgoing Calls." This feature allows you to make voice calls to contacts who haven't yet activated voice calling on WhatsApp. You may see a dialer icon in your Calls tab, which enables this feature.
Keep in mind that both you and the person you're calling need to have an active internet connection for WhatsApp voice calls to work. Also, WhatsApp voice calling uses data, so it's advisable to have a Wi-Fi connection or an adequate mobile data plan to avoid excessive data charges.
If you don't see the phone icon in your WhatsApp chat, it's possible that the recipient may not have activated voice calling on WhatsApp, or there may be an issue with your internet connection. Additionally, WhatsApp may not be available in some regions due to local regulations.
